Iambic Pain
When I was just a little girl,
I’d scream and pray and beg the lord.
For anything to save me from this madness.
Every day was hell to us,
We never asked of all of this
And yet our cries all went unheeded.
We told our friends,
We told our kin,
We told our friends,
Oh, we told our kin.
We walk the streets with fears and dreams
Our heads held high with endless seams
That spread to make the quit work of our lives.
We shut our mouths and kept a smile,
Through threats both personal and vile.
And still, we all stand strong as the stone.
We heard us,
Yes, we heard us,
We heard us,
Oh yes, we heard us.
Now in pact with those in pain,
We touch to form an endless ring,
That will span across the oceans of the world.
They tried to keep our minds in traps,
They used their tricks and made-up facts,
But now we’re finally finding all our voices.
So we’ll move forward,
Step by step.
Oh, we’ll move forward,
Step by step, by step by step.
